Who doesn’t love a good secret? Well this episode is all about secrets, well just one secret I guess. It’s Robin’s biggest secret and she doesn’t want to tell Ted or anyone about it. The episode opens with future Ted talking about how in relationships there are all kinds of secrets that come out. Some are nice, some aren’t as nice, and some are just weird! (Robin’s weird secret though does make a lot of sense. Why is Doc, legendary dwarf, hanging out with a bunch of miners?) After we learn about the three types of secrets, we learn what Robin’s secret is related to. Barney wants to take everyone to the mall for “the gala event for the grand opening of sharper image’s 500th store.” But when Robin refuses to go to mall and wont tell anyone why, the suspense begins. Don’t think that there isn’t some guessing involved. Marshall believes that her fear of malls stems from the fact that she was married in a mall in Canada while Barney thinks she did porn, wait for it, -ography which has nothing to do with the mall, but is his guess anyway. How do they settle the quarrel? The ultimate wager, Why Slap bet of course. Slap bet is loosely defined as “whoever is right gets to slap the other person in the face as hard as they can, but no rings.” They make Lilly Slap Bet Commissioner. *

I won’t spoil the ending, though most of you already know it, but I thought the proposition at the end of the episode was interesting. Would you rather take 10 slaps immediately, or space 5 slaps over eternity? Sound off in the comments. I would take the 10.

My favorite quote from Barney this week was, “Canadian porn! Trust me when I tell you that their universal healthcare system doesn’t cover breast implants. If I have to sit through one more flat-chested Nova Scotian riding a mounty on the back of a Zamboni, I’ll go oat of my mind!”

* Side note, I had never heard of slap betting before, but have found it an excellent wagering tool. I had a slap bet with my younger brother the other day and won! He’ll think twice before betting so quickly again!
