New VP of CBS Interactive

CBS has named Michael Marquez their new VP of yada, yada, and CBS interactive. What is CBS Interactive you ask?

CBS Interactive is a newly formed division of CBS Corporation designed to formulate new media strategies and partnerships involving all interactive platforms, including Internet, mobile and video gaming. Its properties include CBS SportLine.com, CBSNews.com and CBS.com, as well as innertube, a new website offering original programming and the streaming of CBS’s most popular series.

I believe we, yes I am counting myself as part of this show now, count as one of these “most popular series” the press release is talking about.  Now you still may be wondering what the heck this means and why is on a HIMYM fan blog.  I’ll tell you what this might mean. It might mean that soon we may be able to watch the show on our cell phone.  I know that there seems to be a big push in the industry and by consumers for people being able to watch TV where ever they want.

I already have it set up that I can watch any of the HIMYM I have recorded on my computer on my cellphone anywhere in the country at any time.  But it was a bit more technical than most people would want to do.  But can you imagine being stuck traveling on Monday night and while you are waiting on your plane being able to pull out your phone and watch the latest episode of HIMYM while you wait?  How cool would that be?  I am a big fan of this type of movement, and hope this Michael Marquez will continue to innovate in this area.

Or you could fly JetBlue.. From what I hear they have Satellite TV and individual monitors for each passenger in the headrests. Not sure if the other airlines have caught on yet.

But it would be cool to be able to watch HIMYM on my phone. I’d need something with a larger screen though…

Yeah it’s kinda hard to watch on such a small screen but it works in a pinch. I also just thought about it, but maybe this new guy will start putting the episodes in iTunes! That would be cool!
