How I Met Your Mother Is Renewed (?)

From the comments on the last post, Dan points us to a Variety article that is stating that CBS has renewed HIMYM for a third season!!!  While I haven’t seen any *official* word from CBS stating this (and I’ve been looking), I think we can trust Variety.  If any of you can find a official press release please pass it on.

I’m not whooting and hollering yet, but I am certainly breathing a bit easier.

    One Word….Awesome!

Sorry to hear about “The Class.” The pilot was very bad, but the show grew and was more enjoyable to watch as the season progressed. The show had potential…but the Pre-hype for the show probably did not help. I wished they could have at least saved it as a mid-season replacement show.

    Looking forward to season three!

The CBS upfronts are Wednesday, so you won’t see any thing official until then.

Oh dear goodness, I just read this. It is great news. I am happy they did their best to end on a note that would be okay if it wasn’t renewed, but certainly im glad and prefer that it did!

Yayness! CBS makes it official with their upfronts tomorrow. With Gilmore Girls ending tonight, and American Idol almost over, it’s fantastic to hear that HIMYM will indeed be back in the fall.

I agree with Craig on The Class. It was a funny show with a premise that hadn’t been done yet in a sitcom. And yes, it started off slow, then did a nose dive for about 4 weeks, but then it picked up on the funny and the dramatic, and suddenly became a great compliment to HIMYM.

Mike Ausellio (who I know you hate) is has word on HIMYM being renewed, as well. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Look-Hottest-Fall/Cbs-Shows-Mother/700017797

Mike Ausellio isn’t as bad as you think he is. He just reports on what he hears, and from what I’ve read, he doesn’t seem to report on just any rumor.

He never actually SAID that the show the exec didn’t like was HIMYM. There were just clues to lead us in that direction. It seems to have blown over now, though. At least until the end of Season 3.

That TV Guide article is kinda reporting on the ‘Variety’ piece, so I wouldn’t call it set in stone just yet though I would call ‘Variety’ a pretty reliable source. CBS is set to announce its schedule to day, so here’s hoping.
