Season Finale Fancast

Well it has come and past.  The season finale of HIMYM aired tonight and if you haven’t seen it, it’s a good one.  Back by popular demand we have a corresponding fancast for you all.  We even went back and talked about last week’s episode.

Now that the season is over I want to send out a person thanks to all of those who have visited, commented, and sent me tips for this blog.  Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere, but I’m sure things will slow down a bit around here.  I’ll still be posting news as I hear it and we will be doing some podcast (maybe with video!) this summer.  Speaking of summer, while you are sitting around trying to figure out what to do with yourself, why not watch a rerun or two and help us out on the wiki fill out the knowledge base of everything related to HIMYM.

Ok enough with the commentary….. you can listen to the latest podcast below.

It is sad that the season has finished, I agree in that it could be better but on the other hand barney speaking Spanish!!! priceless And the return of ranjit awesome.

In certain way I am happy that ted and robin have broke up finally we will not have to ask anymore this is the episode, they are braking up? And we will see barney and ted together, they are going to be again what is up in NY hahahaha.

    regards from Spain!

Looking forward to Season 3 (Knock on wood)! Great season finale. Deep down, I am still rooting for Victoria to be the mother, but that is very doubtful. With Ted becoming Barney’s wingman, that should add all whole new round of laughs for next season. They need to have more cameo’s of Ranjit and other notables from the past. Looking forward to some questions to be answered next season, such as:

    1. The pinapple?
    2. What about slutty pumpkin?
    3. Ted’s perfect match from the dating service?
    4. When does Ted meet the “mother”?
    5. How will Barney survive the next punches :)

Well, hopefully we will be able to see this next year. CBS announces the schedule tommorrow. Keep the faith!

I was really impressed by how the writers handled Robin and Ted’s break-up. Obviously, these people care a lot about each other. I was pleased that the break-up happened because of who Ted and Robin are as people, rather than because of a contrived situation or sudden realization by one of them that s/he didn’t love the other. Instead they both realized that their relationship “had an expiration date” because they want different lives. I thought that Ted and Robin’s story of their break-up actually worked really effectively. Even though I was pretty sure that they had broken up, I found myself worrying that Robin might be pregnant right along with Barney. (”This is the twelfth most worried I’ve ever been that someone’s pregnant.” Hee!)

The wedding antics with Marshall and Lily trying to eat felt overly sitcom-y to me, but the episode still delivered some cute Marshall/Lily moments: Marshall suggesting that they change their last name to Awesome and name their kids Totally and Freakin’ and Lily dancing drunkenly in the burger place. Actually, Alyson Hannigan playing drunk was pretty cute, but how efficient was that catering staff with the plate clearing? Answer: ridonculously efficient. And Lily trying to feed Marshall cake had a really lame payoff.

I thought that the ending suggested an interesting starting place for season three, CBS willing. While I like Ted, at times he can be a little predictable and boring. I’m interested to see a potentially more cynical, world-weary Ted next season.

I thought it was a really good finale. I thought they could’ve done something more interesting than basically reversing the season 1 finale, but the end of Ted and Robin’s relationship(for good this time) made me feel a bit sad. In Season 1, it was sort of a recurring theme that Ted would once AGAIN try to win Robin’s heart, but now it’s over for good, and it feels strange.

HIMYM has been renewed by CBS:

Which means we’ll eventually see the goat in the bathroom story and possibly a return of Victoria(her two year program is coming to an end). I don’t think she is the mother, because Ted’s kids would be confused why Ted explained in Lucky Penny and Something Blue how he still has yet to meet the mother.

I’m hoping we get to see more of Coat Check Wench. She’s cute. Also, it’d be nice to see who the Slutty Pumpkin is. and to know what Marshall took in the bathroom at Okay.

  6. Keith Says:

Something Blue was a lot better than something burrowed. The first part seemed too sictomly for me. But honetly the writers were stuck. Its a comedy, and what else can you do but have a bunch of stuff go wrong? Glad they got that out of the way though. All the references to first few shows were great, and so was the return of our beloved limo driver. Looking forward so single Ted again. Wonder if he will be different coming out of the relationship. Im sure they will have a relapse at some point though.
