“No Tommorrow”

Well How I Met Your Mother returned with a bang last night.  I thought the episode was great and I really loved Barney’s green suit.  I have a green sports coat that I am known for wearing on St. Patrick’s Day and I can tell you first hand; The ladies love it!

What I thought was interesting about this episode was, we continue the idea that the mother carries a yellow umbrella around NYC.  However, at the end Ted ends up taking the yellow umbrella indicating to me that we will no longer be seeing that clue anymore.  I also was glad we got some more information about the ‘Dowisetrepla’ apartment and why we won’t be seeing Marshall and Lily there anytime soon.

Finally, I noticed the time slot was swapped with Big Bang Theory.  Do you think that means it is doing better than HIMYM? Either way, I’m glad we are back on the air.  It’s been too long.

What did you think about the girl, Ted bumped into in the bar. Was it the mother? a red herring?

  2. Craig Says:

I was wondering about the girl Ted bumped into at the bar as well. HIMYM is great on going back to previous episodes when trying to show the whole story..plus, with the “bubble” status of the show, it might be a way to wrap up the story if needed by the end of this season.

However, if you noticed the ratings of the show (9.7 million viewers), it was a record number of viewers for this season, plus it gained on The Big Bang Theory, which was already picked up for next season. I think the ratings will show the loyalty of the fans and the show will get picked up for a 4th season.

    Great episode!

    Yeah! The episode was AWESOME!

But I interpreted the umbrella thing a little different; I think, now that he HAS it, she’ll find him with it, and the story behind the mom really begins! Just my thoughts though :]

And I personally think better shows are on later, Two and Half Men is WAY better than Big Bang Theoy, and its later. Anyway, I agree with Craig, we’ll definitely have a 4th season :]

I believe the yellow umbrella also appeared in season one. I believe it was the episode when ted was supposed to meet the girl that the matching agency hooked him up with. (please don’t quote me on this) but it was at the end of that episode where you see a different colored umbrella… Possibly yellow.

Now back to the new episode, is there any way to match the girl who had the umbrella in the line outside the bar to the girl ted bumped into? Were they wearing the same clothes?

  5. Craig Says:

The girl that was standing outside was wearing a coat, so the clothing match option would not be logical.

There is always the option that this will be a mis-direction as well. I think the renewal of the show will help determine when we truly see who the “mother” is.

The great thing about this show is the constant speculation on who the “mother” is. You do not see that in too many shows anymore. I hope this show last at least 5 seasons (hitting the 100 show mark would be very important for syndication).

If the ratings hold for next week, I think we will be OK for a renewal for another season.

While I’m glad for the higher ratings, I think it has more to do with the buzz about Britney Spears guest starring soon and less about the loyal fans. If the loyal fans were enough, the ratings for the first half of Season 3 wouldn’t have been so low.

I think next week’s episode(with Britney) will likely get very high ratings, but the episodes after that are the true test. Hopefully her appearance draws in new viewers who wouldn’t have seen the show otherwise, and the numbers stay strong.

It might also have to do with the timeslot, as it seems like the 8:30 show always gets better ratings than the 8:00 show.

The only downfall, The Big Bang Theory has definitley been picked up for next season. :(

    Hi,
I’m from Spain, and I´m an addicted of HIMYM, really, it makes me laugh so much… Is one of the best comedies, I’d say the best one right now (And believe me, I have too much free time - I am not proud to say this but … Damn, yes, I am fortunate, I don’t have to wake up early, I don’t have to go to work, only study and exams are once every 4 months so… - I see many sets).

You are all incredible, and the dialogues are so good… so congratulations for your work.

    I’ll see u around here!!

    Besos
