Season Finale, “Miracles”
Craig and Carter are no longer my friends.
The season finale, “Miracles”, has just finished and I am in complete awe. I don’t know weather to be pissed or exuberant, but I guess that’s what they were going for.
If you haven’t seen the episode yet and don’t want to know what happens, I suggest you leave move on.
I guess rather than go into details on what happened, I’ll just give my commentary. I have to admit, I almost teared up during the opening when the gang was running to Ted’s aid. Then to have Ted sitting there fine, caused me to shout some choice words at the TV and I might have thrown something, but we won’t tell my anyone that.
The rest of the episode was good. Good flashbacks and what not, but lets get to the meat! Do we know the mother? The past two seasons finales have left us with some pretty big cliffhangers, but none quite as large as this. I have a feeling she’s not going to say yes, but we’ll have to wait and see. Anyone else as confused with their emotions as I am?
Lastly, I have a challenge for you readers. During the accident, Ted says his life flashes before his eyes and we see a quick flash of scenes. I am really curious about what was in the scenes. Anyone care to get copy of the show, and go frame by frame and capture what went on? I bet there is some crazy stuff in there.

I feel the same way…the show ended with me screaming Yeas about what Barney was thinking then “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….(you get the point)….OOOOOO!” about Ted and Stella…my money says she is still not the mom despite the cliffhanger.
As for you challenge, I’ll get a copy and take care of it for you, it should be on my site in the next few days…we will see if anything good is in there.

Do you know by any chance the name of the song (or who sings it) that played while the guys were running to the hospital to see Ted?
Thanks in advance!!

While I have no idea what all the scenes were, it’s clear that Barney was part of Ted’s “important things” flashing before his eyes.
It’s strange though, because Ted made it clear that after his accident, he still had no intention of getting back together with Barney.

And what’s up with Barney and Robin?? That look he gave her when they were wondering what flashed before Barney’s eyes clearly means that he saw Robin. I wonder if they are going to get together and be dating in the next season??

“Craig and Carter are no longer my friends.”
What exactly do you mean by that?
I loved this episode. It was different, nice style, and ended up a great note. I felt that HIMYM was at a low point for most of the season as far as the chuckle factor goes. I have been telling my friends and fam to watch since day one and I finally got a few people to watch this season and they all thought I was crazy for talking the show up so much. My sister had the misfortune of watching the St. Pattys day episode as her himym debut, so I dont blame her for thinking im crazy
I hope season 4 comes back with a vengeance, because a gem like this doesnt grace the screen often.

oh yeah, and the barney in love with robin thing…. made me heart all aflutter. NPH sure can portray a straight guy flawlessly!

just an idea: future ted is sometimes talking about uncle marshall and aunt lily. but he’s referring to uncle barney and aunt robin very often.
so my guess is: ted will move together with stella and robin will move together with barney into the old appartment of ted, marshall & lily. marshall & lily will end up in their fixes appartment in dowisetrepla.
(and referring to “the goat” episode, ted only mentions, that robin lived there at his 31st birthday. but it’s not clear, that he lived there too.)

My personal opinion: Stella can’t be the mother because Ted didn’t even mention the yellow umbrella that featured so prominently in the first few episodes. Surely the longer version would tie in with the short version IE “the thing with your mom’s yellow umbrella”?

Are you kidding me?! That opening scene was one of the great irreverent moments that HIMYM is known for. I’m glad it went for the laughs rather than the sap.

daym, such a packed episode, well, obviously it had to be seeing as this IS the finale, i agree with tessa, i realy hope season 4 comes back with gut bursting laugh out loud moments like the earlier episodes, seems like most of the second part of the season was fixated on teh story line more than on teh laughter and comedy factor.
i think they’ve done enough plot evolving for now….season 4 shouldcome back chill and relaxed….do you realize how many changes and events have happened in a few episodes?
but all in all i love HIMYM i wouldn’t stop watching it for the world! i really hope sarah chalke doesn’t end up to be the mother….as much as i like her in scrubs, for some reason i dont really feel like she fits in HIMYM. but it makes sense that after all this time of ‘’supposedly” waiting to find out who is the mother, its a known actress. even tho i would prefer it not to be….or maybe just someone else other than chalke.
plus if they showed that sarah was gonna be the mother that would mean that they are putting the nails on teh coffin of HIMYM, coz after we find out ( or feel like we know ) who the mother is…there isn’t much point to the show….
haha sorry if this post seems very disorganized, that’s just how i think!

oh btw, i really hate the fact that there might be a thing between barney and robin….
that would seriously suck….but that’s just me. just wanted to get that out there

I thought that was a great episode to finish the season and maybe one of my favourites so far. Its been a funny year with the show as I thought they was really hitting their stride in the episodes before the writers’ strike but then things went a little hit and miss for a while afterwards. It certainly became more driven by the story and thats fair enough as it was maybe a little uncertain what the future for the show was, but ‘Miracles’ really rounded things off well and I’m looking forward to the next season.
I agree with Ryan about the opening scenes. Its a difficult trick but I thought they really blended the more emotional side of things into the final pay off with Ted well. They’d built it up to be something different (great choice of song too I might add) and it did catch me by surprise. As for Sarah Chalke being the mother I’m not too bothered either way. I enjoy her work so wouldn’t mind still seeing her in the show. But I don’t think it will be her for some reason.

Let’s be honest, the best part of the show is Barney. And I have to say since Robin and Ted broke up, she has become SO cool. I watched seasons 1 and 2 straight through on DVD, and before I even started on Season 3, it was obvious that Barney and Robin had a serious connection (laser tag, suiting up, cigar smoking, AWESOMENESS)… I LOVED the end of the Sandcastles in the Sand episode and I hope Barney and Robin become an item.
Also, this show is truly amazing, and to get anyone hooked, have them watch it from the very beginning. You appreciate so much more once you understand the references and the personalities. Carter and Bays said the show is made to be a DVD series, and they’re totally right… now get me Season 4!!
