Inspirational poster with DVD at Target

Voltaire sent me a little note to say that if you buy the season 2 DVD set at a Target store, the DVD’s come with an inspirational poster. It’s looks to be the same exact poster as the one hanging behind Barney in his office at the end of the Season 3 premier. There are a total of 5 posters hanging behind Barney in the shot, but the one that Voltaire got seems to be the only one that looks different than the rest. I wonder if it is the only one available with the DVD’s or if you get a random one. Anyone else buy the DVD’s at Target care to chime in?

Season 2 on Pre-Order

Recently announced, Season 2 is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com. It’s not scheduled for release until October 2nd, but you can still order it.

If you are going to order, doing so through the link in this post or the ad on the right will send a few bucks to your favorite HIMYM blog (ME!). I’ve used Amazon pre-order before and it’s great. I used it for the newest Harry Potter book and got mine the day of release and for the cheapest price Amazon ever offered it. Right now the DVD set will set you back $27 (USD) but should the price drop before October 2nd, they will give you the new cheaper price.

I could have sworn I posted this a while ago, but can’t find it anywhere. Oh well. Over on YouTube someone has posted a blooper reel from HIMYM ( I think from the DVD, but could be wrong).

I love the green testicle story bit. I remember watching that episode and wondering exactly how many takes it must have taken to get that right. I mean how do you not laugh when someone is about to tell you the ‘green testicle’ story?

How CBS Missed it’s Big Chance

Alan Sepinwall over on NJ.com makes an excellent observation. Alan writes about how CBS missed a big opportunity to showcase their big hit (HIMYM of course). CBS has announced that “Criminal Minds” would be getting the coveted post Super Bowl airing slot. I thought and hoped that they would have put HIMYM in that spot to attract more viewers, but they didn’t. I am so tired of cop shows, detective shows, lawyer shows, etc. Why not put your leading comedy show right after the Super Bowl? People will have been drinking having a good time watching the game (or I guess a bad one if your team loses) and will be in the mood to laugh, not get all serious with “Criminal Minds.” I’m no marketing major but even I know that people who are drunk are not going to want to watch a cop drama! Come on CBS, we seriously need to work out some kinks. First the stripping the good music from the DVD release, now this?

So borrowing an idea that reader, Keith, gave me I’m going to charge all the HIMYM fans to get a copy of HIMYM season one DVD and when your Super Bowl party ends throw in a disc and get some of your friends to watch. Netflix it, Buy it from Amazon, download it, rent it from Blockbuster or act it out. Your friends will thank you. If any of you do this, send me a report. I’d love to hear how it went over.

I stumbled across the official How I Met Your Mother DVD website from their corporate-run MySpace page. While it offers the type of things you would expect from a promotional site, there was one neat feature. A Barneyisms generator! They only have put a handful of them there but they are some good ones. The one shown in the above image was my favorite. You can check it out at howimetyourmotherdvd.com

So Keith, an avid HIMYM fan, left a comment on one of the stories recently and pointed me to his site where he has a review of the HIMYM DVD with some amazing insights. This is exactly what I love about blogging. You get to share things with others that maybe you’ve thought about but didn’t know exactly how to put into words. Which is exactly how I felt when reading “Tucker’s World: Not As Seen on TV.” Keith gives a less than rave review of the recently release HIMYM Season 1 DVD set. His biggest complaint is the fact that a lot of the cool and trendy music that seem to fit each episode perfectly were scratched from the DVD for some one reason or another. I’ll let him explain.

“Anyway, much to my let down apperently they could not get the rights to a lot of the music used in the 1st season. Not to much of a big deal you might think,but the music is really a big part of the show, and carefully picked out by the writers. Heck the creators of the show are in a band. The show usually uses underated bands, cool covers, or bands that haven’t made it big yet. They also use other bands not usually played on the radio like Supergrass.”

HIMYM DVD is Released!

Today marks the official release day of Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother on DVD! If you haven’t ordered your copy head over to Amazon.com (use the link in the sidebar if you want to help feed the HIMYB minions). Or if you don’t want to buy the DVD, you can of course sign up for a Netflix account at Netflix.com and add it to your queue.

The DVD features all 22 episodes, gag reel, video yearbook, and commentary by all 5 HIMYM actors, and the two co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

So seeing as I didn’t get to watch the show tonight, I am cruising around the good ol’ Intraweb when I stumbled upon this little gem. Over on TV.com, they have somehow gotten access to one of the gag reels from the upcoming DVD release of HIMYM season 1. If this is any indication of the rest of the DVD’s extras, I can’t wait. Well I can’t wait anyways, but this will be a superduper bonus.
