Swarley!

It’s back! This weeks episode, “Swarley”, is my new favorite episode this season. While the other episodes have been funny this one made me laugh the most.

This weeks episode start with Barney, Marshall, and Ted sitting around in a coffee shop that looks very similar to Central Perk from Friends. After sitting in silence for a few minutes Barney exlaims: “Thats it, hanging in a coffee place is not as cool as a bar.” While it might not be as cool it is the birthplace of the episode’s running gag. The barista, who Marshall later asks out, labels Barney’s coffee “Swarley.” His reaction is priceless.

“Mine says ‘Swarley’ how’d they get Swarley from Barney? It’s not even a name. Who would ever be called Swarley? … Oh please don’t start calling me Swarley. … This would never happen at a bar!”

The rest of the show, the whole gang calls Barney Swarley or some variation. It made me laugh every time.

From there, Marshall asks out the barista, but we come to find she’s got “the crazy eyes.” Barney and Ted inform Marshall that his new girl has the crazy eyes. Which is apparently a well know medical condition that shows future craziness in a woman’s eyes. Girls I guess have one for guys that is similar called “jerk nails.” The crazy eyes bit is the basis for the rest of the episode.

Barney: “What in the world would make you believe that is a true story?”

Aldrin Justice

After my Comcast debacle, I have finally had a chance to watch the episode titled “Aldrin Justice.”

In this episode, we continue with Lilly’s search for settling back into life in New York. Last time she was looking for a place to stay, now she’s looking for a job. It just so happens that Ted’s firm has an opening as the office assistant (after Ted humiliated the last one), and Lilly is up for the challenge. While working for Ted’s firm, we learn how Lilly likes to administer justice.

While all of that is going on, Barney is hunting the ever allusive cougar. What is a cougar you might ask. As Barney explains it a cougar is “An older woman, usually in her 40’s or 50’s, single and on the prowl for a younger man.” This cougar just happens to be Marshall’s professor and Barney has agreed to “relieve her stress” so that she won’t be as ornery when grading Marshall’s assignments. Only Barney’s skills might not be as good as he would lead us to believe.

Some quick info:

Bryan Cranson (from Malcom in the Middle), we learn is Ted’s boss (Mr. Druthers). He does a really good job in this episode of selling his character, and if you are like me you really grow to hate him by the end.
Jane Seymor (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) plays Marshall’s Professor. And just like she was in Wedding Crashers, she looks good.

Some quick opinions:

The scene where Lilly, Robin, and Ted are at the bar and the sexual innuendos are going back and forth was my favorite scene.
Who has a baseball signed by the same person 3 times?

Finally, this week’s best one-liners:

“I have never need beer more than I do now” – Marshall
“Marshall, I’ve thought it over and I accept your challenge. Tomorrow the cougar hunt begins” – Barney
“When somebody opens up a container with an entire chicken in it. It is ok to assume they made lunch for everyone.” – Ted
“I prefer to call them *justice* kakis” – Lilly
“Do you not see the POWERBAR in my hand!?” – Barney
“To Ted. The youngest person to ever design a building over 70 stories. Probably.” – Robin

World’s Greatest Couple

As you all know, Barney is shrouded in mystery. We don’t know where he works, nor have we ever seen the inside of his apartment. Well we get a glimpse of one tonight. In this episode Lilly moves in with Barney and finds his apartment the ultimate bachelor pad. And he likes it that way!

We also get to see how Marshall’s life as a single man in New York is going. But it gets weird… and weirder… and weirder.
